How do I add a checkbox to a specific box, not the whole column?

Hi Tabatha,
Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment to only add a checkbox to a cell, but it's an excellent idea!
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment
As a possible workaround, you could add the column but "hide" the other checkboxes with punctuation or similar that is the same color as the background.
Would that work/help?

Hey, I had the same question and found the same answer Smartsheets is too dumb for this level of control. I did however come up with an aesthetic work-around if you're interested. Uncheck "Restrict to checkbox use only" in the "Properties" context menu of the column. Next, type any character into the cell to overwrite the checkbox (or every cell but the one you want by dragging) then simply change the text color to the background color. It doesn't fully solve the problem but it cleans up the document nicely.
