Typing over a drop down box

Basic question team but fo the life of me cant work it out!

 

I have some coloumns with drop down boxes, but i want to somehow ensure that users do not type in the cell, but make it that they HAVE TO choose an option in the drop down list.

 

Right now they can choose from the list, or type ANTYHING they want in the cell, which kind of defeats the purpose of the drop down.

the target for data validation is 2-3 months.

 

There is currently no way to restrict them from typing what they want. Some posters here have suggested a column to check if the entered value is valid - depending on how many choices there are that could be messy.
