Automation works on sheet but not when form is used

Hello.

I created a sheet first and decided I wanted to be able to have people use a form to fill it in. I have an automation set up that contacts a person for approval when a request is made. It works when the data is filled directly into the sheet but it isn't working when I fill the information into the form and the sheet is filled in automatically. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I found your question by searching for something similar. When someone fills in a form, I want the form to create the person as a contact in a contact column so they will receive automation alerts. Otherwise, I have to collect their name and email address via the form, then manually go into the sheet and create a true contact in a true contact column. What you're experiencing, from my experience, is expected behavior, but it would be great if the form could generate a true contact to eliminate the manual step.

You'll need to add a so-called helper column (Contact Type), and reference the column where the submitter adds their email address, and then use the helper column for the workflow.
