Tasks cannot be linked with predecessor if date is fixed in past

Tasks cannot be linked with predecessor if date is fixed in past, MS project will allow start or finish no earlier than date with a predecessor allocated to drive the date accordingly.

Are there plans to add functionality for task dates to be start or finish no earlier or later, with a predecessor allocated driving the date out where applicable?
