Elapsed Time in Predecessors
We have a combination of production activities that go round the clock and people related activities that don't use weekends.
IN Microsoft Project, I am either to get around this issue by either setting a 7 day a week calendar OR using elapsed times in durations and as values for lags in Predecessor.
In smart sheets, I am able to use a 7 day a week calendar (which works for me) but does not work for the Rolled up calendar I am trying to link to. THey use a 5 day calendar and this throw all the values off.
I am able use elapsed time e5d in duration but I am not able to use the same value in predeccesor 5FS+e5d. Smart sheets seems unable to use elapsed time in the predecessor column.
ANy suggestions?

Hi @Tracy Blumen,
You may want to look into setting up Lag and Lead time for predecessors in your sheet. To represent a period of inactivity or overlap between the predecessor and dependent, you can use lag time. For instance, entering 1d into the “Lag (days)” field for a Finish-to-Start dependency causes the dependents to start an additional working day after its predecessor finishes. To schedule the dependents to start before the predecessor finishes, use a negative number (for example, -1d) to create lead time.
More information on lead and lag time can be found in the Enable Dependencies and Use Predecessors Help article.
I hope this helps!
Thanks,
Ben

Smart sheet does not seem to allow for ELAPSED TIME in predecessors such as 3FS+e4d. IT does allow for it in durations. This creates difficulties in creating timelines when production activities (7 days) share a timeline with people activities (5 days).

Elapsed time in lag times would be very useful

Having elapsed time in lag times is critical to our team building schedules. Please add feature

Yes, please add this feature.

Please add this feature

Please, just to confirm, is it possible to work with edays in predecessor tasks?
Will this feature be included in Smartsheet?
thank you

Also following up on this question. This one of the big problems preventing our organizations from using Smartsheets as opposed to MSProject

This is business critical for us, too. We work with regulatory agencies that provide a specific calendar number of elapsed days to provided critical regulatory documents. Using elapsed days in the duration is helpful, but we need to be able to use elapsed days in a predecessor lag, as Microsoft Project currently allows. Without this functionality, we will not be able to adopt Smartsheet for our enterprise.

@echarles that is precisely the issue for us too with jurisdictions and regulatory agencies providing calendar days. It gets difficult for large scale heavy project management industries to use Smartsheets. We've submitted the idea to project feedback a couple times but never heard back. @Andrée Starå I've seen people other submit this a few years back but haven't heard. Will we get feedback if the Smartsheets team is reviewing allowing elapsed duration in predecessors?
