Copy sheets and references
Hi Everyone!
Let's say we have one folder [A] with 3 sheets that have references. If I want to make a copy of this folder (Folder B), I can make save as new and save it...By default, it will keep all the references relative to the newly created sheets. what if I added a new sheet to folder A and I included some references, how can I copy it to Folder B and guarantee that it's references are relative to sheets in folder B?
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Taima

Hi @Taima El Frieh
Hope you are fine, as you say when you save as new or move the sheet from one folder to other all references will stay the same. for example, if i have sheet1 in folder A with count formula reference to Sheet2 in folder B then i save a copy of Sheet1 in folder B as Sheet 3 and i do any changes in sheet2 the formula will still work with the same reference, also if i move sheet1 to folder C the formula will still working with the same reference.

I believe @Taima El Frieh is actually wanting to know how to create a copy of the new sheet and have this new copy update to be for Folder B (instead of keeping its references to Folder A), is that correct?
In this instance, you would need to manually update the newly copied sheet, finding all its references, and changing them to look at the sheets in Folder B instead of Folder A.
A copy of an individual sheet will duplicate the current references and will not update them to look anywhere else. You could have hundreds of folders with sheets, so it wouldn't know which folder or sheet to choose from. You can only update/duplicate references like this when you copy an entire folder at one time (versus one individual sheet afterwards).
Cheers!
