Can you use a Contact List in an IF statement and take advantage of Automation?
For example in ColumnB (contact list):
=IF(ColumnA@row = "Summer", "Firstname Lastname (firstname@gmail.com)")
then use Automation to Alert someone when their name appears in ColumnB.

Yes. But you would want to only have the formula in the contact column output the email address. You could use a separate column to output the name if needed.

If you want to maintain formatting you can use an index match with a lookup table
