COUNTIF that will only count child rows when present

    To identify your rows hierarchy, create a helper column and use the formula =COUNT(ANCESTORS()) + 1. This will identify a rows "depth" with parent rows being 1, children being 2, grandchildren being 3 etc. etc. Doesn't need to be a check box column, just a typical number/text.

    Then adjust your COUNTIF to count a specific row in the order. In my case, I was only after the parent row, so I was looking for the value of 1.
