Project Management - How do I create a recurring task within a project task list?

@JeremiahHorstick I have just requested access to workspace, I hope it is still alive a couple of years later. (Thanks in advance) I wonder if in meantime Smartsheet have developed a simpler solution? I am a complete beginner to Smartsheet and I not skilled in Automation nor in cell formulas that you guys all seem to use. I just want to manage our (scientific academic lab) projects without spending too much time learning another 'language'. Recurring tasks at various frequencies should be added to the list of highly needed features please !

There is definitely something to be said for becoming a behind the scenes wizard at making some Smartsheet magic happen. But not all of it is overly complicated.

Can you please provide some specific details in terms of what your needs are so that we can better understand what you are hoping to accomplish. If you have a mock up - that would be helpful.

The workspace contains a basic one-sheet solution, and a 2-sheet solution that allows you to incorporate recurring logic considering when the last time a given recursive task was completed.

@JeremiahHorstick Thanks for sharing your ideas on this solution. While looking at the first sheet it made a lot of ideas click in place. I am trying to create a Compliance process with annual recurring tasks and I am intending to use some of your ideas. Thanks for the inspiration. - MTFBWY

Are we still lacking a leaner solution to this, or are we still needing to resort to the two dizzying solutions? This is a fundamental aspect of Project Management and really hoping there's something more seamless.

@JeremiahHorstick I am really trying to make this solution work. I have your workspace but there seems to be hidden columns that the formula references. Can you unhide them? Also, is there any way to make a video walkthrough? For a newer person in Smartsheets this is really advanced, but I really need the capabilities.

@JeremiahHorstick With your 2 sheet solution for creating recurring tasks, would this work if non-recurring tasks were in the same sheet as recurring tasks? or would I need an automation that would cop the recurring task to a 3rd sheet with recurring and non-recurring tasks in it?

I walked through the instructions. Added all of the formulas to my workspace and am having trouble with the automations? Any chance we can hop on a call for a few minutes to look at your automations?
