Count Formula

I am trying to do a count of request submitted by each month, I have a column for the month "Date" and many other columns. here is the formula I am using but the result = 1 COUNT(IF(MONTH(Date:Date) = 1, 0)). Thanks for your help.

=COUNTIF(Date:Date, IFERROR(MONTH(@cell), 0) = 1)
