Set default text for a given cell

I'd like to set a default on a given column. Is this possible in Smartsheet? I need to be able to do this from the sheet and not the form. Help!

And you can make it a Column Formula.

Okay, that worked to an extent. What about a default percentage? I want my default % for resource allocation to 12.5%.

You maybe will need to increase the decimals.
