Allocating an estimate value across multiple weeks

I am looking if anyone has taken a task estimate that spans multiple weeks, extracted it and broken it down by week for a resourcing plan? I'm just looking for tips and approaches.

@Earl Tessmer would building a Gantt chart work for your purpose? If you have two dates (starting and ending dates for the project) you should be able to build a Gantt chart that views the project by month/week/day.
