Creating a link to the same sheet that you are on.

Is there a way to use the Hyperlink -> Link to Another Sheet function to link back to the sheet that you are already on. I know it sounds strange. Why would I want to have a hyperlink back to the sheet I am already on.

I have Control Center instance that creates a package of sheets for each project. One of theses sheets contains project data that my users need to edit. It also contains my master set of navigation links that all other sheets in the package reference to use in their navigation sections, so if I have to change a nav link, I can do it in one spot on this sheet and it then populates to the 20 or so other sheets in the project package. So I need a way to put a link back to itself, so that when other sheets refer to it, it gives those sheets a link.

I know a work around would be to create a report and link to that, however that will not work in my case. One of the things my project managers do is upload graphics to this sheet that are then displayed on a dashboard. You cannot upload a graphic to a report (at least to my knowledge) you have to upload it to a sheet. So they are forced to use this sheet. I guess I could create a different sheet for the graphics and then link back but that is getting very awkward.

Hi David,

Could it be as simple as copying the URL for the sheet you're on and pasting it in the desired cell? You can find the URL by clicking the Share button, then in the Sheet Link section, highlighting and copying the URL.

You could then paste it in the cell and, if desired, right click on the link, click Hyperlink..., and change the display text.

Sorry, but that will not work. These sheets are part of a Control Center template.

When my users create a new project, Control Center copies the entire package and drops it into a new workspace. When it does that it automatically updates all of the "links to an other sheet" to link to the sheets in the new package.

When you put a static URL in there, it is .... static. The new package created by Control Center still points back the to original template sheet in the Admin workspace, not to the newly created project package.

As a work around I put the link to an other sheet on the project plan and then linked that back to my metadata sheet which then links out to all of the other sheets. It works, and I know how I did it to make an update, but whoever comes along after me to maintain this thing is going to have a lot of tracing out links to do if they want to understand what is going on. Too many workaround and "creative solutions" make maintaining this deployment more and more "interesting"
