I need to subtract a number from another sheet - cant seem to reference the other sheet

please help

You can get the cell -link value to your sheet in another cell or a so-called helper column and use that in the calculation.

The cross-sheet formula version would look something like this.

The Other Sheet reference is a single cell.

=Total5 - SUM({Other Sheet})

Make sense?

The sum function does bring up the ability to reference another sheet - and it works

Hope you are fine, you can use cell linking to bring the number to your sheet and do what you want with it.

its quite simple I have a number in a particular sheet and want to subtract from this a number from another sheet - when I type for eg =Total5 - (the number from the other sheet) there is no ref to the other sheet...

You'd need to use a cell-link or a cross-sheet formula.

Is it only once you need it or for multiple fields?
