Parent Roll-Up not working for % Complete and Dates
Hello,
These two column parent rows aren't working in random places of my project plan. Below are the column headers and example of a section where parent isn't calculating. I've read elsewhere that duration has to be a column to the dates to calculate but they are calculating fine in other places. If I need to add duration column back in...is there a formula I need to use?
Thanks,
DR

Do you have the dependencies enabled?
-
I do not. I deleted both duration and dependencies as we typically don't use them.
-
I mean the dependencies in the Project Settings. Even if you remove the columns, the dependencies in the project settings could still be turned on.
-
If dependencies are turned OFF, then you will need a formula in the parent rows to calculate a percent complete.

Super! Dependencies enabled. TYSM!!
Last question is about % Complete. It's also not calculating correctly. You can see the first 3 rows below the orange row. I've changed the values further down in the column to 90% and it doesn't recalculate at the parent level.

Are you able to provide an updated screenshot?

Thanks for hanging in there with me, Paul! The two parent roles aren't updating/calculating and it's just this section of the smartsheet.
Here's the section just below this one that is calculating:
-
Ok. Dependencies ARE enabled. In that same section where you enable them, is the % Complete mapped to your actual % Complete column in the sheet? The % Complete is optional for the dependencies, so even when they are turned on, it may still not be set up.
-
Yessir! I did check that. I've never seen this before...

At this point I would suggest reaching out to support. It seems as if all of your settings are correct, so it should be calculating.
One final thought... Exactly how are you entering your percentages? Are you just entering them as a number and letting the column format it as a percentage, or are you manually keying the actual "%"?
-
Column is formatted as percentage. I will reach out to support. I can't thank you enough, Paul.

Happy to help. 👍️
Feel free to revisit the thread with Support's response/solution.

Hi Paul,
I am having the exact same issue that you are having with my sheet. Did the Support team resolve the problem for you? If so, do you mind sharing what the solution is?
Thanks,
Adriana

We will need to wait on @Daniel Russell to update as it is his sheet that is having the problem.

Hi again,
It works fine for me when the start/finish dates are entered.
Hope that helps,
Adriana
