Collapse/expand rows

Hi Community!

Silly question... sorry for that 😊

My boss and I are sharing a list of tasks, some of which are parents of sub-tasks...

When I use the sheet and collapse/expand rows and save, smartsheet will save my action and next time my boss or I open it, it will show the rows as I left them. This is not the case for my boss...

Any idea of a settting that could impact this? We have read all basic articles about hierarchy, checked all settings... this is driving us mad!

The problem comes from the filter. if you have a filter, then smartsheet automatically expand rows that are not included in your filter.

There is another threat dating 2016 that has been closed. but apparently the problem has not been resolved.

Hope you are fine, Unfortunately, this feature is not currently available. but you can play around by using the report for you to update and keep the original sheet for your boss 😉.

In fact, we would like that when a row is collapsed (i.e. tasks and sub-tasks all completed) it remains collapsed the next time the sheet is opened. This actually works for me but not for my boss, regardless of who did collapse and save the file.

I think the only setting difference might be that I have the autosave function upon closing the sheet turned on and my boss not...

How does your Boss access the sheet? Saved a link in the browser? If that is the case, the link might be saved with a specific view.

Hello Community

We finally found out why the collapsed row would always expand when re-opening the file: if a filter is on then it will show the related value regardless the collapsed row... so it expands the collapsed row ;)

Is there a fix yet for why collapsed rows don't stay collapsed with a filter on for something else?

Commenting to be alerted when a solution is available. This is a daily struggle for our team and frustrating during meetings when sheets auto save and then re-expand all rows. Typically this occurs in the middle of a discussion about a specific parent row. This results in a pause of the meeting so the presenter can again collapse all rows and regain their focus on the topic at hand.

Any possible fixes or solutions for this yet? A keyboard shortcut for the desktop app for both expand and collapse would be wildly helpful.
