Expanding Tasks when a Filter is On

Hi new to SmartSheet and I'm trying to expand my task when a filter is on, but it not allowing me to do so which defeats having a filter. Any one know what do I need to change in my Column to do this?

I think you are expanding, but the records are not showing because they do not have the value in them. You probably want to create a helper column which contains the value if the record is the parent and the parent value if the record is a child. And then you filter on that helper.

You can use PARENT for that. If your hierarchy is more than one level deep, there are some tricks to find the top level parent.
