Has anyone else had a problem with sheets loading slowly in chrome? I have found a solution.

I have computers that load sheets slowly and others that load instantly: I finally found out why.

 

If anyone else is having this problem let me know.

See if Chrome is configured to use "hardware acceleration": If so turn it off.

We haven't run comparison tests on use of Smartsheet with vs without hardware acceleration, so to be clear: we don't have data to validate the claim that disabling hardware acceleration will improve the performance of Smartsheet.

 

This information is for you to test at your own risk to determine whether or not it improves your experience.

 

What hardware acceleration in a browser TYPICALLY does is it spreads out processing tasks over the GPU and CPU of a computer in order to reduce the workload on the CPU.

 

Hardware acceleration in browsers has been known to cause lag (some examples are: typing delays, web pages not loading, mouse click delays) in certain situations and with certain hardware. This is mainly due to a machine not having an adequate GPU, or the the GPU and CPU not communicating with one another at a fast enough pace.

 

Again, you're welcome to try this, but this hasn't been tested by us and our Support team doesn't currently offer this as a troubleshooting step to try and solve performance issues in the app.
