Change cell value
When we have an approval in one column (the value has changed from blank to approved) we need another column to change to generate a confirmation number
What is the process for this?

Hi @Bari Gant
Hope you are fine, did you have a format for the confirmation number that contains Letters, symbols, and numbers, or do you want a unique serial number for each row?

Hi @Bari Gant
I hope you're well and safe!
You could add the System Column, Auto-number, and something like this.
=IF(Approval@row = "Approved"; AutoNumber@row)
Depending on your country/region, you'll need to exchange the comma to a period and the semi-colon to a comma.
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic day!

Currently this is setup with the "Approval Column" containing the option for Approved or Declined, single drop down conditional formatting. The System Generated column "Auto Number" with numeric prefix does generates a number, but we only want that number to appear IF the Approval Column is "Approved". We are part way there just need help on the last step.
Thanks

Happy to help!
It seems like my suggested method should work, or do I misunderstand something?

Can you paste your formula here, or I'd be happy to take a quick look.
Can you maybe share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, [email protected])
