Reset Auto numbering using Automation

I'm using a form to captur data in a smartsheet and I need the auto numbering to reset annually. Deleting the column manually isn't an option since I can't delete the data in the current sheet and also the column is used in equiations in other columns.

Any advice?

What about creating a new sheet for each year?
