Contact List formula just displays as contact "name"

Hi all,

I am trying to set up a template (PMO Template Set - Project Plan Sheet) so that people who are Assigned to certain project roles get automatically assigned to the appropriate Project Task. But when I type "=[Assigned To]3" for a certain task, it just displays the formula text instead of populating the cell with the contact listed in row3 of the Assigned To column. The same happens with any formula I use in this column - it seems to think the formula is the text of a contact name. The Assigned To column is not set to allow multiple contacts. Any suggestions on address this issue?

What type of column are you typing the formula into? You'll need to ensure that the column where the formula is being typed is also a Contact List type of column (see: Column Type Reference).

Additionally there are some types of columns that can't have formulas, such as a contact list that is being used in resource management (see: Areas where formula use is restricted).

Thanks, Genevieve. I think it is a Resource Management issue. I'm going to see if I can turn that off - I don't really need the resource management function. Mostly I've just been linking out to the metadata sheet as a workaround.
