Referencing Values From A Different Sheet
I have a Master Sheet "Used Acoustic Guitars Magento(Use This)" with a column for "Store Number" that contains 45 possible values and an additional column "short_description" that is currently blank
My reference sheet "Smartsheet Store Directory" has the same two columns, "Store Number" which has all of the 45 possible values that could be entered in the "Store Number Column" and a populated "short_description" value
I would like to populate this empty "short description" column on my Master Sheet "Used Acoustic Guitars Magento(Use This)" via a formula that would bring in that value from my reference sheet
Example:
So on "Smartsheet Store Directory" the Store Number Value "14" corresponds to a short description value of "This used item resides in our Cherry Hill, NJ store. Call (856) 667-6696 if you would like more information."
So any time the Store Number column on my Master Sheet shows a value of "14" than the short_description field would auto populate with that value listed in the short_description column of the "Smartsheet Store Directory"
via a formula that would reference my other sheet "Smartsheet Store Directory" This reference sheet contains a Store Number column with all of the 45 possible values and a corresponding "short_description" value I want to appear on my Master Sheet
So if the Store Number column on the Master Sheet is "14" than I would want the value listed in the "short_description" column of the row for S
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Hi @Derek Ash
I hope you're well and safe!
You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.
Make sense?
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Hello
Unfortunately I am getting the "Incorrect Argument" error when I try to apply the formula.
To clarify, the values on my source sheet will be static. The Source Sheets holds the Store Number Column and a separate column with corresponding values for Short Description.
The Destination sheet also holds a Store Number Column with a currently blank column for Short Description. So if my Destination sheet shows a value in the Store Number Column of 2, I want the value listed on the corresponding row of the Short Description column to populate this currently blank column on my destination sheet.
Let me know if that makes sense
Thanks

Happy to help!
I'd be happy to take a quick look.
Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@workbold.com)

Hello Andree
I have shared both sheets to the email address you provided. I am hoping to populate the 2nd column(short_description) via a formula that pulls in values provided in the 2nd column(short_description) of my source sheet
Thanks

I've updated your sheet with the formula.
Did it work?
