Hello, I am at the step "Log in using your Smartsheet credentials." but don't know where to login. The Web Data Connector starting screen shows the form that I need to type in the URL. However, if I type "app.smarsheet.com" then the error occurs "The URL points to a website, not a Web Data Connector. Please help!

Can you post a screen capture of the step that you are at (while blocking sensitive data)?

Hello, I attach here the screen shot. After logging in, it shows the Smartsheet website, not data tables as expected. (I am using Macbook)

It looks like you may not have the Smartsheet data connector installed, or you may not be selecting it properly.

The first step is to install the Smartsheet Tableau Connector on the computer you would like to connect to Smartsheet from. I would recommend reviewing the Tableau documentation, here.

Once that's installed, these are the steps to follow within Tableau:

• Connect to the Smartsheet Data Source by choosing the To a server > Other Databases (ODBC) option.
• If you do not see the ODBC option listed, click on the More Servers… and choose it from the list from additional options:

My apologies! I just recognized you're using a Mac. In this instance you won't be able to use ODBC and instead will want to go through Connect > Web Data Connector as you had noted in your first comment.

On the Web Data Connector window where it's asking you to type a URL, instead look down at the bottom of the window where it says Use a Connector.

This should show you available connectors to choose from. I believe the URL is https://tableau.smartsheet.com:443/tableau/

Hi @Hai Dao Le Thanks for sharing this information. Unfortunately the article doesn't address my issue. I have already connected my data and created dashboards using the WDC in Tableau. But suddenly since yesterday, the WDC is not able to connect and is asking me to login again and again. Would be grateful if you could share how to solve this. Does Tableau need a version upgrade maybe?

Hi @Nits I had the same issue recently and it resolved itself on its own after a couple days. I tried connecting using a blank new workbook to make sure the problem was in Smartsheet and not my Tableau workbook. At one point I selected the sheet and chose the options 'Import Text/Number colum data' AS TEXT and Import Metadata NO and it briefly worked.

I hope in a few days it will resolve itself for you too.
