cut and paste referencing

Hi everyone,

It seems Smartsheets uses absolute cell reverencing and consequently cells with formulas lose the cell references when cells/columns are are moved/changed

Is it possible to use relative referencing to avoid formulas losing their cell reference?

Thanks for your prompt advice Andrée,

Unless I’m missing something, the link does not address my issue

If I reference an Individual cell by Column name, row number (say, =[Project timeline]3 ) my formula will reverence the contents of [Project timeline]3

If I then cut and paste [Project timeline]3 or insert a cell above row 3, the cell references the new contents of [Project timeline]3 So it seems the sheet uses absolute referencing – (I’m not using the $ prefix)

 I want my cell reverence to follow the new location that is being referenced
