Help me create the correct filter/formula

Hi!

I have a database that tracks start and end dates for volunteers. I need to apply a filter to the database, then count individual distinct entries after the filter is applied. I've tried creating a COUNT(DISTINCT()) Formula but it counts all the entries regardless of the filter.

So I was hoping someone had a genius idea of how I can just count the distinct lines/entries after the filter is applied.
