COUNTIF, Cross Sheet, Multiple Contacts

I am counting the number of times a contact is referenced in the Assigned column, cross sheet. There can be multiple contacts listed on each row but I am just looking for a total count of the number of times an individual is listed.

This is the formula I have, but returns unparseable.

=COUNTIF({Internal Comms Intake Range 1} HAS(@cell, "Amy Merck"))

Looks like you might just be missing a comma before your HAS function:

=COUNTIF({Internal Comms Intake Range 1}, HAS(@cell, "Amy Merck"))

Are you putting the formula in a column of type Contact List? If so, that column is expecting a contact to be entered and won't show a value for your COUNTIF formula. You'll need to either put your formula on a normal Text/Number column or create a Summary field on your sheet to display the count.
