April 2017 is an aberration. It spreads across 6 calendar weeks.
So is July, so maybe not so rare.
Is there a way to show the entire month in Calendar View?

Short answer—No.
Slightly longer answer—Calendar View was designed to be able to show you a grid that is 7 days long and 5 weeks high. It isn't capable of displaying more than that at once. This presents moments where the complete month can't be displayed.
I thought as much since Feb 2015 Month view is also 5 weeks.
I'll send an Enhancement Request.
