Help: formula to check box if a cell is NOT blank

I need to check the box if/when the cell is NOT blank anymore:

try =if([Column1]@row<>"",1,0)
the "<>" character is "does not equal" and smartsheets recognizes "" as a blank cell

just use a simple if statement in the check box column
=IF(ColumnName@row > 0, 1, 0)
or you could use
=IF(ISBLANK(ColumnName@row) = 1, 0, 1)
