How do I add AND to a COUNTIF (COUNTIFS) formula?

Hi,

I am tearing my hair out trying to create a formula (for a Sheet summary) that will count the number of rows that has the term HECF in either the Area of focus or Other column. So in the example below, the formula would return "4".

I'd appreciate any help with this. Thanks!!

Is there a way to combine or add COUNTIF formulas, or some other way?

Try something like this.

=COUNTIFS([Area of focus]:[Area of focus], "HECF") + COUNTIFS(Other:Other, "HECF")
