How can I count/sum all the individual entries in a multi-select contact list within a date range?

Greetings,

I have a sheet tracking service requests. Within this sheet is a multi-select contact list that tracks the staff assigned to each request. I am trying to count the total number of staff members assigned to service requests during a time period e.g, from Date1-Date2, how many staff worked to fulfill service requests? Duplicates are ok, and needed e.g., if an individual worked on 3 requests, they should be counted 3 times. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.
