View pdf formatting in Document Builder
Hello,
I created a fillable pdf, and placed a medium black border around each field in. Issue is I am not able to see the borders around the fields in the output from Document Builder. I can see the borders for the fields in the pdf builder when I preview the file in Adobe, but no where else.
I also attempted adding a gray background to the pdf template, but that also did not work.
Is there something I need to do in Adobe to allow Smartsheet to see the formatting/borders/background?

I've been able to replicate what you're describing: in a PDF with a black border around fields, that border disappears after I've mapped Smartsheet data to it and I generate the document.
At this time I'm unsure if this is expected behaviour or not. I see that you have contacted Support on this issue and working with them will be the best way to proceed. They'll be able to test directly with your specific document and formatting to troubleshoot further.
Thanks!
Genevieve

Thank you for testing it out on your side. Support said, "At this time, Smartsheet does not support the functionality of retaining the format of the fillable pdf in document builder". They also logged this as an enhancement request for me.
One proposed solution from them is to create the form in MS Word, export as PDF, make the fields editable in Adobe, then upload it to Document Builder. I'll give that a try this week.
