Index to return more than one result doesn't work

I have mutliple contacts working on a project and I want these multiple contacts to be referenced on multiple sheets without having to input each one each time on each sheet.

Index will pull the first result multiple times but not jump to the next result - how do i get it to move forward?

Are you able to provide some screenshots for reference?

  • @paul, I have been trying to figure out how to do so and keep confidential information confidential.

Unfortunately, there is no way to do this. But imagine I have 3 project managers and I want to have a formula (and not a drop-down contact menu) because I want to have a list of Project Manager and their projects on one sheet. but multiple project managers to one project (which I would like to show on an overview sheet and on the individual project sheet)

For example I almost have a schedule but I need to have contact info on one sheet, so each person has to pull into the "schedule" sheet while referencing the project as a whole (3 project managers from x department, 5 from this one , etc) and then their subsequent companies; and then on the individual project sheet, it pull those 5 people as well. they are outside vendors for legal cases and I want to reference the insurance policies, lawyers, etc. Hope this helps. I created a formula that pulls the first person over and over but I would like it to jump to the next person, etc.

Are you able to create a quick sample with fake names such as Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and Easter Bunny?

It almost sounds as if you are looking for a JOIN/COLLECT, but I am not 100% certain I follow what you are wanting to do. Maybe I just need more coffee. Haha

  • Yes, a join/collect formula but I can't figure out how to do it.

It would be like Mickey, Donald & Pluto work on project A in addition to B but on C it is Pluto, Bunny, & Sam.

And to make it more convoluted, Sam has 3 different products that he creates for project A and we have to list those as well.

Are you able to provide some mocked up screenshots that show what we are working with and manually entered data to represent the desired outcome?

  • here is a part of what I would be needing to do 1, 2, 3, etc. that is not confifidential

    1 075357 US308421 "DBI ELV #: 1

    Elv #: 075357

    Elev Permit ID #:

     State ELV #: US308421"

    2 074358 US308424 "DBI ELV #: 2

    Elv #: 074358

    Elev Permit ID #:

     State ELV #: US308424"

    3 074359 US308425 "DBI ELV #: 3

    Elv #: 074359

    Elev Permit ID #:

     State ELV #: US308425"

    4 074360 US308426 "DBI ELV #: 4

    Elv #: 074360

    Elev Permit ID #:

     State ELV #: US308426"

    5 074361 US308429 "DBI ELV #: 5

    Elv #: 074361

    Elev Permit ID #:

     State ELV #: US308429"

    6 074362 US308430 "DBI ELV #: 6

    Elv #: 074362

    Elev Permit ID #:

     State ELV #: US308430"

the formula where the data is listed out neatly pulls into another sheet, where I would need it to show 1 - 6 instead of just #1
