Categorized Tasks show as 'Uncategorized' in Card View

I was hoping the community can help with an issue that we are experiencing in Card View.

Issue - Tasks that show as being in their proper categories in Grid View are showing as Uncategorized in Card View (for example the Category "Assigned To").  If you drag and drop an Uncategorized Card into the correct 'assigned to' Category (which they already happened to be correctly assigned to under the Grid View) and you save, then the card will stay in their proper Category.  Unfortunately because we have hundreds of Tasks having to do this one by one is not a practical solution.

Question - Is there a reason why this is happening and can it be corrected?  If not and this is a built in part of the Card View, is there any way to move all the Uncategorized Cards in a quicker manner?

Any help/insight you could provide, would be much appreciated!

  • Is it possible you have some rows where the assigned to is just the email rather than the contact?

Actually I just tried that, but they don't show as uncategorized, just separate columns.

I can't say what's going on, so I recommend you contact support.

What happens if you create a filter on one of the ones that ends up uncategorized?

From your description it sounds like you have more drop down options in your dropdown list or contact list Column than Card View can display lanes for.

Card View has a limit of 50 lanes. The lanes are determined by the first 50 options in dropdown list or contact list that you are currently viewing by.

So, if a card is in the 'Uncategorized' lane unexpectedly, despite being 'Assigned To' the user 'John Doe,' make sure that the lane 'John Doe' exists and you don't have more than 50 lanes.

  • Hello team, i have the same exact problem, and i have much less names is the contact list. I'm not able to figure of this is a bug or there is something wrong. in list view everything is categorized properly, but when moved to card view, all my jobs moves to uncategorized despite that i can see the column for the custodian or assigned to person?

    pls help

    many thanks

    Rami

    Rami,

    Did you solve this?

Is Card View sorted on the Custodian column or something that is not shown in the images?

  • I've come across the same issue and resolved it by adding the "Custodian" contacts with Smartsheet.

You can import your Outlook CSV or add these user names manually.

  • Double click on contact list header in grid view.

Then delete everyone not supposed to appear and add new contacts. They must appear in the list displayed to appear in card view.

    Cheers
