Sorting Primary Column in Reports

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is a bug or a "feature"

I can't seem to sort the primary column from a report. From the active sheet (no problem), but the purpose of reports is to have our own view and leave the active sheet alone.

And, yes, I don't have any other filters on.

Can anyone advice?

Are you using Grouping in your Report?

Grouping will automatically set your Report to Sort by the Group first, Alphabetically. Then if you apply a Sort, it will organize the rows within each Group, but not the Grouping structure. Does that make sense?

Would you be able to post a screen capture of what you're seeing, and the Sort not applying? (But block out sensitive data).

I also seem to be having this problem... The primary column doesnt appear as an option when you select the sort function...

Sure - here you can see even though I am typing "Task name" there is no such option for sort.

Hi @cyrusmody

Try typing in "Primary" to see if "Primary" comes up as an option. Since you can re-name a Primary Column in a Report, it uses the default label in the different Report builder options.

For example, I titled my Primary Column to be "New Title", but note that it appears as "Primary" in the Sort dropdown list:
