I read the article about inserting pictures and how smartsheet is compatible with the animated GIF format (Article Here). It says in order to view GIFs I have to switch the sheet out of grid view and go into "zoom" view. What is zoom view and how can you play back the GIF animation?
A GIF will play after you've double-clicked the image in the grid—which gives you a view of the GIF in its original size. I suppose this is what the article refers to as the "zoom view" although I can see how that might not be entirely clear.
Our Content team made a slight change to the Help Center article in order to make this more clear going forward.
