Automation of data in separate sheet

Hi, new to smartsheets, so I appreciate the assistance. I am trying to make it so when the Unique ID is entered on Sheet 2, Last name and First name autopopulates to sheet 2 from sheet 1. Sheet 1 would already be filled out.

I hope you're well and safe!

You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.

I'd recommend using an INDEX/MATCH combination because it's more secure, flexible, and less processor hungry.

INDEX({ColumnWithTheValueYouWantToShow}; 
MATCH(CellThatHaveTheValueToMatch@row;{ColumnWithTheValueToMatchAgainsTheCell}; 0))

Depending on your country/region, you'll need to exchange the comma for a period and the semi-colon for a comma.

I think you can also use the new feature to link the cells between sheets. No formula is needed. you need to usa the table view and go to more tools in the menu and go link column data. It will ask for the source sheet and the destination sheet and the column names in both sheets. That's all.
