How can I create a link in multiple cells simultaneously?

Hello,

I want to link a cell in one sheet to multiple cells in another sheet. The source cell contains a date, and I need that date to be linked to multiple cells (all in the same column) in another sheet.

I've tried highlighting multiple cells in the destination sheet and using Paste Special -> Links to copied cells, but that only creates a link in the very first cell. I've also tried highlighting multiple cells in the destination sheet -> right click -> Link from cell in other sheet...but that produces the same result. It only populates the first cell.

How can I go about creating links in multiple cells simultaneously? As it stands, I have 190+ rows that require this same link, and I would prefer not to perform this action 190 times.

Thank you!

    Hi @gjohnson.pcpro

I hope you're well and safe!

Here's a possible workaround or workarounds

    • Cell-link one to the other sheet and then use a formula to reference that cell to the rest of the cells.
    • You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.

Would any of those options work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

  • Hello @Andrée Starå!

I appreciate your response. While referencing the linked cell in a formula is not ideal, that may be be an acceptable workaround. It is surprising to me that there is no way to copy a link and paste it into multiple cells.

Thank you very much for your help!
