Counting cells that are not blank

Hi,

I need to count the cells in a column that are not blank. This formula is giving me an unparseable error:

=COUNTIF({Date Converted from DataCor to Exp Lite}:{Date Converted from DataCor to Exp Lite},<>"")

=COUNTIF({Date Converted from DataCor to Exp Lite},<>"")

I'm referencing another sheet. Our formulas appear to be the same except for the brackets vs. the curly brackets.
