I need help with SUMIFS

I have a sheet that has is called 2023 E&T MEDIA PLAN. It has PRODUCT CATEGORY and COST. I'm trying to add the cost of all the product categories. For Example, INTRAORAL SCANNER is a PRODUCT CATEGORY

=SUMIF(2023 E&T MEDIA PLAN : PRODUCT CATEGORY, "INTRAORAL SCANNER", 2023 E&T MEDIA PLAN : COST, <0)

What am I doing wrong?

Hey @KyleDS

The SUMIFS function has the syntax of SUMIFS(range that needs to be summed, range1, criteria1, range2, criteria2, etc). You can have from one to whatever number of criteria, but always in a range-criteria pair.

=SUMIFS(Cost:Cost, Cost:Cost, @cell>0, [Product Category]:[Product Category], "INTRAORAL SCANNER")

I wasn't sure if your column name was Cost or 2023 E&T MEDIA PLAN Cost. Adjust the column names as appropriate in the formula above.

Thank you! It totally worked. However, I don't understand why you have to do Cost:Cost. The : is throwing me off.
