Automation - Trigger a notification after status has been updated

Hola,

Need some help with an automation. I have notifications triggered based on status (Open, Manager Approval, Closed). There is a step that I need to trigger a notification when a status moves from Manager Approval to Open, can this be done? I have a separate notification for when the status is first set to Open.

Thank you in advance!

Hmmmm. can you describe the process a little more in-depth?

This video highlights the approval process and you can trigger specific messages based on approval or denial. You could also add an Open-Approved or Open-denied status that could trigger a new response... but based on the Manager's approval you could also run specific actions as shown below...

  • Thank you for sharing this video @Mike Wilday . Let me share more details.

The tracker is compliance related with sensitive information so there is a dynamic view created. All notifications to end users are set to message only with a link to the dynamic view. The approval request does not allow for a message only option.

    Here is the process:

    1. New requests are set to open. Notification triggered of new assignment.
    2. Updated request when ready to close need to have status set to Manager Approval. Notification triggered for review.
    3. When additional edits are needed, manager will set status back to open which will need to trigger a notification to assigned parties to review again and resubmit.
    4. When closed, intended parties receive a notification.

Hope the additional context helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

What about creating an Additional Edits Needed Status? That could trigger the same results and actually communicate what's needed in the status column as something that has been started but isn't complete. The video shows a status of Needs More Work. That might be suitable too... and allows you to set up the additional messaging.

  • Thank you for your recommendations @Mike Wilday. I appreciate your time.
