As a follow up to this. If you Embed a Power BI chart into a Smartsheet Dashboard, does an end user who comes into the Smartsheet Dashboard, need a Power Bi license to view the Power BI chart? Do they need a license to drill down into the power BI chart?
-
This is my question as well and the reason I came here. When I embedded the PUBLISHED Powerbi report, people still couldn't see it. I had to go to the report and manually type the emails in who needs to view it.
I thought publish meant anyone can view it whether have a license or not. So I dont know

I've tested embedding Power BI Reports onto dashboards, and have not found a way around the dashboard viewers being required to sign in to Power BI in order for the embedded content to display.
I've only tried with an Internally Published Power BI Report. Maybe a Publicly Published Power BI Report could be displayed on a Smartsheet dashboard without the need to sign into Power BI in order to view it. I haven't tested this yet because nothing I work on can be published publicly due to regulations.
This is a major obstacle for me as I just started developing in Power BI, and planned on publishing some of the reports to Smartsheet dashboards. I'm going to have to rethink that now.
One cool thing however is that you can drill-down into the Power BI Report right on the Smartsheet dashboard.
BRgds,

I have read all the solutions and comments on this thread and followed the steps as mentioned.
But unfortunately, for me this isn't working. I can insert a widget on my Smartsheet Dashboard from BI, but then it is asking me to login to BI platform before presenting anything. If i click on the link to sign in, a page will open and collapse directly.
I am doing something wrong here?
Thanks!

@Aniket Sohani Have you tried publishing your dashboard in Smartsheet? I have the same issue (link to sign in and nothing happened when I wanted to sign in), but it disappeared when I published my Smartsheet dashboard with the embedded Power Bi report (File - Publish -on). I hope this works for you as well!
-
@Kamila KP - thanks for the word, but i guess the problem is from my end. I am working with 2 work or school accounts and only 1 has access to all the systems. So, when I am on PowerPoint window and trying to generate dashboard, it's getting confused between accounts and not allowing me to sign in right account. but have checked with colleagues and it is working fine with them.
-
@Kamila KP can you direct me to the File - Publish - On? is that in Smartsheet or Power Bi
-
I did publish and it is still asking for a sign on
-
It's on the Smartsheet dashboard. When you open this, you have an option to publish your dashboard. It should give you the option to embed your Power Bi report there. Let me know if this works for you
-
yes, I did that but it is still asking to sign in. I need to embed report to Smartsheet and not have sign in on Dashboard for Executives. I cannot publish publicly which I know is an option. Help! I am getting pressure

Any updates on this? I received the same issue regarding sign in, even after I published Smartsheet. I am using the HTML visual in Power BI. I copy/pasted an HTML script into a new Smartsheet file.

Hello,
I develop in Power BI, and I've experienced the same problem. I previously commented above, but have learned more since then.
Unfortunately, Power BI requires a license in order to view their dashboards/reports.
That's why it's requiring you to login when your dashboard/report is embedded on a Smartsheet dashboard.
Below is a snippet of an explanation from a website I found. I feel this sums it up pretty well and also provides links for further information:
With sharing, whether you share content inside or outside your organization, you need a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license.
Your recipients also need Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) licenses, unless the content is in a Premium capacity.
You can refer to the following methods to share your reports and dashboards:
1. First, you can put the contents of the workspace into premium capacity:
Purchase Power Bl Premium:
Assign a workspace to a capacity: https://docs.microsoft.com/power-bi/admin/service-admin-premium-manage#assign-a-workspace-to-a-capac...
