I have an issue list with numerous people assigned tasks. I use the approval process when ever someone closes an item. The problem I have is that if the owner of that item closes it they have to go through the approval process. Is there a way I can avoid this? would comparing the modified to assigned work?

    Hi Bill,

There currently isn't a way to suppress an Approval Request if you're the owner of the task. I tested comparing Modified By to Assigned using an IF formula, but that only works if the user in question doesn't have a first and last name set in their Personal Settings (in other words, Assigned only shows their email address in the cell and not their name).

When you have a moment, please submit a product enhancement request using the form under Quick links on the right of the community site to add your vote for this option. I'm sure this is something that others would find useful as well.
