I have a project where the planned tasks are spread over several weeks, see attached.
How is the summary % complete total calculated? Can I relate to %complete against project days?
Regards
Steve
The summary % Complete is an average of the children.
Can you explain in more detail what you mean by "Can I relate to %complete against project days"?
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your reply. From my example 44% complete implies 1.10 days completed in the project. However, project days x %complete gives 1.15. Is this correct? Because my project days are spread over a longer durations, what the best way to represent the %complete?
Regards Steve
That depends on the level of accuracy you are looking for. the 0.05 days difference relates to 1 hour and 12 minutes difference.
Also... What is the difference between the Project Days and the Duration?
I'm just struggling to figure out exactly how your process is working.
Project days are the days sold to the client for the delivery of a task. However, this may be spread over weeks which gives a longer duration in smartsheet, e.g. 18/08/19 to 28/08/19 gives 9d duration but the time spend on the project is 1 day spread over the 9d.
So could it also be said that the duration is 1 day with 8 days lag or lead time?
Hi Paul, that's correct. However, the nature of our construction projects is that 1 day is schedule over 2 weeks but we not sure when the work would actually be done so the plan shows the duration as 10 days against 1 project day. Regards Steve
You would need to be able to build in actual start and finish dates and run your % Complete off of those then.
Hi Paul, OK, thank you, regards Steve
Happy to help!
Has anyone found a workaround for sharing Smartsheet reports externally without giving access to internal data? I currently have to download the data and transfer it onto excel to create a pivot table for our client and I want to find an easier way to do so. I also already create a dashboard for our client, but I wanted…
Hello team! Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season. I am trying to set up an automation that will send an email reminder one time when Next Update Date = 60 days, then another automation at 30d, etc. The key is I only want it to send the reminder one time when Next Update threshold is reached. Is this possible?…
I have an automation setup to escalate to managers when a step goes beyond 2 days. I have that titled as Escalation for Purchasing, Escalation for Planning, etc. In my trial run, 3 out of 6 showed up as Reminder: New part number request log ( this is the name of the sheet) The only thing we could see was that the ones that…
