Can I share the Workapps to collaborators and grant him the access as admin level?
I had lock some columns in the sheets and want to group some sheets in Workapps and share to them. They had the Admin level to access the sheet but they can't edit the lock column through the Workapps. Any methods can the collaborators edit the lock columns through Workapps?
Thanks.
Daniel

Hi @Daniel TANG
Hope you are fine, unfortunately, you can't do that for Collaboration, please read the following article to understand the sharing permission level.

Hi Bassam,
Thank you for your quick response. Just want to confirm about this.
Even I share the sheet to them for admin access and they can directly edit on the sheet.
But they still cannot edit on the Workapps, right?
BTW, can Smartsheet change this and provide one more "Admin" option on the "Role"?
Thanks.

Hi @Daniel TANG
At this time, Workapps only has two permission settings: Viewer or Editor. Since permissions in Workapps are separate from permissions within Smartsheet, Editor permissions does not allow editing of Locked Columnns, no matter who the user is that's accessing the sheet via Workapps. This includes the Owner of the original sheet.
Your users will need to navigate directly to the sheet where they have Admin permissions in order to adjust content in locked columns, as you've found. Workapps is still in preview, so any of your feedback is welcome! Please submit the feedback form to let our Product Team know about your Admin suggestion.
Cheers,
Genevieve

Hello, @Genevieve P. I've created a few WorkApps and one specifically, I want to put on our Employee Dashboard (a Smartsheet dashboard published) viewable to anyone - like a published dashboard and not need to add individuals or even manage a group (it would be over 2.5K users!). So, here's my question - can anyone with a link to a published WorkApp access it?
-
Hi @Chris Hallo
There currently isn't a way to publish a Workapp and make it a public link that anyone can access, or anyone on a certain domain can access.
However you can share a Workapp to a Group, so what I would suggest doing here is see if your account has an "All Employees" Group in Smartsheet. That way as employees are added to the Group, they'll automatically have access to this Workapp as well.
Cheers,
Genevieve

Quick question. When assigning a work app permission. Say to an outside subcontractor.
do they have to have a Smartsheet account?
-
Hi @Jon Barto
I hope you're well and safe!
Yes, they need a Smartsheet license, or you would have to either have the Smartsheet Advance package or a WorkApps Collaborator Pack.
Who can share WorkApps and with whom?
The owner of a WorkApp can share it with licensed users on any Smartsheet plan (internal or external to their company) at no additional cost.
To share WorkApps with unlicensed users or free collaborators, an additional purchase is required. For more information about how to purchase the WorkApps Collaborator pack, contact Smartsheet Sales.
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic weekend!
Best,

@Andrée Starå we have Smartsheet advance.
what is the collaborator pack? Is that needed in addition to Smartsheet advance?
or will Smartsheet advance suffice
-
Smartsheet Advance removes the need for a Collaborator Pack, so you're all good.

Hello Genevieve,
I'd love to use this option: how can I create an "All employee group" without registering one by one the 2,5k+ email addresses ?
I've been searching for this in https://admin.smartsheet.com/ with no success.
Thanks for your support.

To add group members in bulk you can copy and paste up to 1,000 email addresses from an Excel or .csv file into the "Add Members" tab. Here's more information:
