Cross reference 2 sheets
I need to cross reference 2 sheets in a way that if "status" is updated in one sheet, the "status" in the second sheet gets updated automatically. See screenshot for reference.

The entry in the "Course ID" column (ACC5610) is common between both sheets. Do you think that's enough?

Yes.
You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.
