Sheet Summary with SUMIF

I'm trying to pull in expenses tied to a specific category and based on a specific month. I've been trying to make this formula work but keep running into "Incorrect Argument Set" and "Unparseable" messages. I've tried to edit this many different ways and cannot get it to work.

=SUMIF([Expense Category]:[Expense Category], "Software", Amount:Amount, [Month Number]:[Month Number}, 2)

Any tips?

    Hi @Dixon

You need to use SUMIFS if using multiple criteria.

Try this: =SUMIFS(Amount:Amount, [Expense Category]:[Expense Category], "Software", [Month Number]:[Month Number], 2)

    Hope this helps,

    Dave

It looks like you need the SUMIFS formula instead of =SUMIF. With SUMIFS, the range you want to add goes first, then the criterion information. Try this formula.

    =SUMIF(Amount:Amount, [Expense Category]:[Expense Category], "Software", [Month Number]:[Month Number], 2)
