What if I would like the children rows to move based on criteria? How would I initiate that? If there are 20 items under one parent row, as the items are completed, I want them to move to another sheet. Currently not working for me with just an automation.

Can you clarify what you mean when you say that the automation is not working? It would be helpful to see a screen capture of your workflow set-up (but block out sensitive data) along with information regarding how the trigger is happening.
