Can I collapse/expand at a certain level of the plan?
MS Project has this feature, helps super quick viewing of the plan. We have a lot of clicking if we want to summarize up at a phase / work group level. Seem like a super simple addition..... only thing I could do was categorize what each row is per type, then create a filter - but that's a hack. this is pretty standard...

Yes if you use the Indent/Outdent feature on the tool bar. They are located to the right of the filter.

Right, gotcha - I mean how to pick the level that show in aggregate. I get that you can structure it like this, can you quickly open only at level 2?

To add to Sareed34's excellent advice/answer.
Another option could be to add a so-called helper column that gives you the Level. We can call the column, Level. You can then add Filters for the different levels.
You can use it to identify parents and use it for conditional formatting and more.
Add the following formula to it.
=IF(COUNT(CHILDREN([Task Name]@row)) > 0, COUNT(ANCESTORS()) + 1)

Right. I have that column already.
theres literally a drop down in MS Project called “Show Level” and you chose the level of the indenting, and it expands or collapses to that level based on the drop down. It’s not like SmartSheets filtering function. It’s a drop down with that some purpose. Sounds like SmartSheet doesn’t have this.

Unfortunately, you're correct, and Smartsheet doesn't have that feature at the moment, but it's an excellent idea!
