Sum amounts within certain year and type

Hi,

I have a report listing payment (i) amounts for various (ii) items and the (iii) payment date in long date format.

I am trying to sum all the amounts per year and per item.

Example:

SUMIFS(amount, type = "paint", year = "2023")

Adding up all the values in "amount" column if the type column is "paint" and the "date" column is a date within that year.

Needless to say it's not working and a search of help topics and trying various things has not helped.

Any ideas please?

You will need to tweak your column names, but this is the general idea:

=SUMIFS(amount:amount, type:type, "paint", date:date, YEAR(@cell) = 2023)
