How to get rid of the "Reminder" as the 2nd row in my slack alerts

See screenshots of my automations set up and slack alerts. I want to get rid of:

row 2 of slack alert: Reminder

row 1 of slack alert: Reminder to schedule testing for BD_Proteinase K (Item ID: RGT0172_01, Lot #: 209482)

row 2 of slack alert: Reminder

row 1 of slack alert: Reagent BD_Oligo Binding Buffer (Item ID: RGT0173, Lot #: 24026701) is expiring in 5 DAYS

row 2 of slack alert: Reminder

    Hi @vivianwu1,

I’m not sure I completely understand your request, but it sounds like you’d like to remove one of the alerts in Slack. It’s not clear from the screenshots whether your two automation workflows have multiple action blocks or just one action block each. If they have multiple action blocks and you’re looking to remove one of those, you can do so by editing the workflow and clicking the three-dot menu on the relevant action block, then selecting Delete, as seen below:

Alternatively, if you wish to keep one of your workflows and not the other, you can delete or deactivate the workflow you don’t want to run, by clicking the three-dot menu on the relevant workflow in the workflow manager and selecting either Deactivate or Delete.

More information on this can be found here: View and manage automation workflows.

I hope this helps! If I’ve misunderstood your request or you need additional help, could you provide the following?

    • Screenshots showing the entire setup of both workflows with all actions (and a screenshot showing if you have any other workflows in the sheet)
    • A clear description of which notifications you do and don’t want to see in Slack.

    Thanks,

    Georgie

  • Hi Georgie,

Thank you for your response. I want to remove only the "Reminder" text (circled pink) in the slack alerts for the 2 automations "Reminder to schedule testing" and "Rgt expiring in 5 days". The slack alert message I have for "Reminder to schedule testing" is "Reminder to schedule testing for {{Name}} (Item ID: {{Item ID}}, Lot #: {{Lot Number}})" and the message for "Rgt expiring in 5 days" is "Reagent {{Name}} (Item ID: {{Item ID}}, Lot #: {{Lot Number}}) is expiring in 5 DAYS".

I do get those messages with the appropriate fields in the slack alerts in the brackets but the 2nd "Reminder" (circled pink) is not anywhere in in my slack alert custom message, and I would like to remove it.

Similarly, I get slack alerts (see last image) when I add info to a new row, even though I didn't create an automation workflow for it.

    All automation workflows:

Rgt expiring in 5 days workflow: "Reagent {{Name}} (Item ID: {{Item ID}}, Lot #: {{Lot Number}}) is expiring in 5 DAYS"

Reminder to schedule testing workflow: "Reminder to schedule testing for {{Name}} (Item ID: {{Item ID}}, Lot #: {{Lot Number}})"

    Hi @vivianwu1,

Thanks for clarifying your request and for the additional screenshots! I see that you’d like to remove the word “Reminder” from your alerts.

I tested this and saw the same behaviour for time-based workflows set to alert Slack, and there’s no way to remove “Reminder” from the alert. When you have a moment, please submit your feature request to the Product team by creating an Idea Post in the Smartsheet Product Feedback and Ideas topic here in the Community. This will allow other users to vote on your enhancement idea!

For the alert you’re receiving when you add information to a new row, it looks like that alert has come from your workflow titled “Placed released stickers”, since this is triggered when rows are changed and when ‘Placed Released Stickers’ changes to ‘Checked’ - I can see from the screenshot of the alert that a row was updated and ‘Placed Released Stickers’ is True for the row, so it follows that this was the workflow that the alert was sent for.

    Hope that helps!

    Georgie
